Area: Greenwich, Connecticut
Experience: Certified ACE Personal trainer with 17 years of experience.
At Gym Source, we value the expertise of personal trainers. That’s why we regularly spotlight local trainers who have a passion for fitness. This month we are featuring Ryan Hoffman of Ryan Hoffman Fitness in the Greenwich, Connecticut area.
Ryan has always had a passion for fitness and helping people accomplish their health goals - and after 17 years in the business he still feels fortunate to do something everyday that he finds rewarding.
His training philosophy is focused on around finding creative workout solutions that can be performed in home gyms, as most of his training is with clients in their homes.
Because he focuses on building longterm relationships with his clients, it is important for him to always keep a finger on the pulse of the industry so he can keep providing new, dynamic training routines.
For example, by incorporating the TRX system into his workouts. “TRX is one of the coolest fitness tools to come out, and is an excellent way to get a full body workout if you are limited on space or fitness equipment,” he says.
Viewing himself as his clients’ partner, he enjoys getting involved in their fitness journey from the start. His work with clients begins prior to even completing the first rep. Most of his fitness partnerships begin with advising them on their home gym design. “I have been in the industry for a long time, and with that comes years of experience.”
Proving strong partnerships get strong results, Ryan trusts his Gym Source equipment expert Carlos Lopez to help him strategize and execute his vision for his clients’ gym design and fitness equipment solutions.
Years of successful teamwork has led Ryan to consider his partnership with Gym Source an asset. “I build so many home gyms that I need a wide variety of solutions. Gym Source has everything you could need to transform any room into the gym space you want,” he says.
When asked about his best tip to start designing a home gym, he says “pick prime real estate in your home, don’t make the gym fit the room - create your home gym to fit your goals.”
It is important to make your workout space feel like a really comfortable room you want to spend time in. You want to create a fun energetic environment.
What is his favorite fitness equipment? He couldn’t pick just one.
His go-to is a good quality workout bench because his clients spend a lot of time using it. But, if space is an issue - which it can be for home gyms - he considers the Cybex functional trainer the most versatile piece of equipment for a home gym.
“The Cybex Bravo is the best bang for your buck. If you are going to have one piece of home gym equipment this is it. It does it all.”
Learning and growing from years of results, Ryan has developed his own unique, proprietary approach to training. His philosophy has continued to evolve with his knowledge and experience. Yet, one thing has always remained true - he believes the best way to get results is to work hard and always incorporate diverse, full body workouts.
