At Gym Source, we value the expertise of personal trainers. That’s why we regularly spotlight local trainers who have a passion for fitness. This month we are featuring Kate Campbell owner of Coach Kate Campbell in the Newton, MA area.
Kate’s passion for pursuing a lifestyle that supports both her physical and mental well being stems from being born with Cystic Fibrosis. Being diagnosed at nine months shaped Kate’s outlook on life; refocusing her life’s main objective to pursue everyday as a “passion project”.
She defines her approach to exercise as ‘mindful movement’ that finds a balance between mind and body. “You need to make a mental shift to find what physical activities you enjoy, because it is important to enjoy the process and experience of getting healthy”.
She feels that your motivation to exercise should not just be about checking something off your to-do list, but rather understanding why it matters and what it represents to you.
“My main objective for becoming a personal trainer is to help my clients understand our bodies are not just physical,” she says. “In order to create the best personalized workout plan, we must tap into our daily stresses, obstacles, and challenges – and use exercise to support the “why” motivating your fitness goals.”
Kate integrates life coaching with her personal training, and creates personalized workout plans that are focused on weight loss, strength training, nutrition habits, and having compassion for yourself.
Her top tip to create your best exercise program is to discover practical workouts that fit your lifestyle. “If it doesn’t plug into your life, and you have to create a new lifestyle, it won’t stick,” she advises. “We all love to romance exercise, but it has to be applicable to your life.”
She feels it is important to enjoy your fitness journey and that “your body will communicate what you enjoy, and once you tap into that you will stop believing that it is in the end result that matters.”
Kate trains most of her clients in their home gyms; focusing on home exercises that increase athletic performance, weight loss, strength training, provide pain relief (both physical and mental), and increase range of motion.
As her client’s advocate for health, she considers Gym Source an asset for home fitness solutions that support individual fitness goals.

When asked what fitness equipment completes her workout space she boasted “I use the TRX Suspension Trainers and BOSU balls everyday. They are fun and challenging, and my home gym would not be reflective of me if I did not have them in my fitness space.”
Kate describes fitness as one of the important blocks you need, to build a life you can feel passionate about. She believes you should stop worrying about what you “should” do, and instead discover what makes you happy and feels good.
“Fitness is only one of the blocks in your journey, so once you find your way to be passionate about each block of your journey – you will live a fulfilled life.”
