The Heart-Healthy Mediterranean Diet

An impressive study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that people at high risk for heart disease reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes by 30% by switching to a Mediterranean Diet. This kind of diet is rich in olive oil, nuts, beans, fish, fruits and vegetables—and even includes wine! There is lower overall heart disease in Mediterranean countries compared to other parts of the world, but conclusive scientific evidence that the Mediterranean diet could reduce the risk of heart disease was minimal until now.
