Personal Trainer Spotlight: Rob Gasko & Allen Meretsky

Area Servicing: Central Monmouth County, NJ

Experience: Rob Gasko is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Functional Movement Screener with over 15 years experience in fitness training, with a specific interest in post-surgery and injury prevention.

Allen Meretsky is also an NASM Certified Personal Trainer with over 15 years of experience in fitness training ranging from strength training and weight loss programs to sport-specific and nutrition training and everything in-between.

At Gym Source, we value the expertise of personal trainers. That’s why we regularly spotlight local trainers who have a passion for fitness. This month we are featuring Rob Gasko and Allen Meretsky, college roommates turned co-owners and trainers at GYM GUYZ Central Monmouth County, a mobile, in-home personal training solution.

The two are passionate about bringing permanent lifestyle change to their clients. Rob explains, “permanent change isn’t created by mindlessly jumping on a machine. It is curated by learning what movements you’re doing and why.”

Along with their team of thirteen trainers, the two are working to shift the mindset of their clients to be wellness centric.

“Specialty fitness fads just don’t have long terms effects. My team of trainers tirelessly strives to incorporate nutrition, balance, stability, flexibility, strength and cardio in ways that are challenging, yet safe and do-able for each of our trainees. In a world chasing quick results, we are reaching for lifestyle change and lasting impact.”

When asked what their favorite fitness accessories are Rob explained,

“don’t overlook the simple stuff, foam rollers, resistance bands and the hypervolt are all awesome. So often my client’s underestimate the value of stretching. These accessories will have you wanting to incorporate them daily.”

Allen chimed in, Kettle bells and medicine balls are also great, easy to store tools to incorporate into circuit based exercises. You really can do so much with them.”

So what do they suggest for those with the itch to start personal training, who just haven’t picked up the phone yet? “As cliché as it sounds, there is no better time to start than now,” said Allen.

They continued to explain they encourage clients to focus on smaller goals, the first 5 pound weight picked up, 5 pounds lost, or 5k ran. Keep focusing on the next best thing and in 6 or 8 months you will be dynamically different.

“Exercise is addicting, that’s what’s so good about it,” Rob laughed.
