When American Campus Communities (ACC) was ready to outfit their latest residence hall at the University of Central Florida with a state-of-the-art fitness center, they knew to call Gym Source—just as they’ve been doing since 2007. Having installed 15 ACC fitness centers last year alone, Gym Source commercial sales representative Ron Rhodes and his team knew what to do.
The equipment was ordered, and before long the delivery date arrived. But one sticking point remained: The building’s elevators had yet to be installed. How would Gym Source possibly get 13 TRUE treadmills, 3 Octane X-Rides, 3 Cybex Arc Trainers more than 15 additional cardio and strength training machines to the facility’s 2nd floor clubhouse? Clearly, Ron and the team at Gym Source’s Warehouse 97 in Orlando had their work cut out.
Time was of the essence. ACC needed to start pre-leasing the space immediately, which meant getting the fitness center installed ASAP. Sizing up the diminutive windows above, Ron—along with Senior Operations Manager Mike Loeber and their crew—built a custom outdoor scaffold and cribbage over 2 days. Next, they hired an all-terrain forklift to transport the disassembled equipment through the windows and into the clubhouse.
Once inside, Ron led the team of 9 Gym Source technicians to re-assemble, position and calibrate the equipment in just one day. Since Gym Source had already designed the fitness center floorplan, installation went smoothly and ACC’s deadline was met with time to spare.
We’re proud of Ron, Mike, Warehouse 97, and every Gym Source team member who helped make the latest ACC fitness center project a total success. How can we do the same for you? Contact the Gym Source commercial team to find out.
