Each month, Gym Source is featuring an employee who exemplifies the passion for fitness innovation and dedication to customer service for which the company is known.
Employee: Jay Sanchez
Location: Cherry Hill, New Jersey
Quotable: “I really love building relationships with my clients. I enjoy educating and providing the necessary resources for them to make the best decision and gain peace of mind.”
As the sales manager of the Gym Source store in Cherry Hill, NJ, Jay Sanchez is proud of the role fitness plays in his clients’ lives—as well as his own. His fascination with fitness began when he was in high school; Jay studied a variety of martial arts including taekwondo, jiu-jitsu and judo. He began training in a gym to gain strength and agility—and enjoyed the experience so much, he decided to pursue a career in the fitness industry.
As many of our employees do, Jay first discovered Gym Source as a client. “I was visiting my mother and noticed a Gym Source Store location at the Short Hills mall,” he explains. “After walking in, I had one of the best experiences of my life! The sales rep was kind and knowledgeable—and the quality of the fitness equipment was top-notch. This left an impression that really stuck with me. I decided I wanted to work in a similar environment. Later on, I stopped by my local Gym Source in Cherry Hill and dropped off a resume. I’ve been a proud member of the Gym Source team ever since. They’ve treated me like family.”
Jay is dedicated to helping his clients, and he’s thrilled to hear about their success. “Once,” he explains, “a client came into our showroom, but she wasn’t sure which equipment to purchase.” After taking time to understand the client’s conditions and goals, Jay had her try out several pieces he believed would meet her needs.
She purchased his recommended equipment and was so happy with her purchase—and with the service from Jay—that she wrote a detailed letter expressing her satisfaction to Richard Miller, Gym Source CEO. “To me,” says Jay, “this was a great moment and inspires me to continue doing what I love!”
Among Jay’s recommended equipment, a few pieces stand out as his favorites, most notably the Hoist Mi6 and the Cybex 770 Arc Trainer. “The Hoist Mi6 is my favorite multi-function gym,” he explains. “It has a heavy-duty, commercial quality structure. Plus, it has curb appeal and a great walk-through design. It has an app that can be used for every full-body workout with a personal trainer, which provides full-motion video and records your body metrics, workout history and more. Best of all, the machine is designed to fit in a corner, which saves space for other equipment and makes room for aerobics and cardio activity.”
Jay considers the Cybex 770 Arc Trainer the best ‘all in one’ machine. “I have some knee and back conditions, and I can only use certain pieces of cardio equipment,” he says. “The engineering design implemented on this machine is like no other. The motion is very comfortable to all of my areas of concern, allowing me to train on the unit longer and not feel discomfort in any way. Also, the programs and interaction with the screen/console is very simple to understand and use. This is great for toning, strengthening and losing weight.”
Finally, Jay also recommends the True Stretch Cage to increase flexibility. “This cage allows for multiple stretching levels,” he explains. “With this cage you can accommodate for height, muscle group and multiple holding levels to get a natural approach to flexibility. This is very important to reduce injury.”
