Fast Fists by Nexersys® vs. Treadmill is a Knockout
Part of my job at Gym Source is to review new products, as well as to validate the research that manufacturers publish to support their fitness claims. Recently, I took a look at a study conducted by the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Southern California regarding Fast Fists™, the latest offering from Nexersys®.
The study made a pretty bold claim: It’s product burns 3-5 times the calories as a regular treadmill workout in the same amount of time. I reviewed the research, and admittedly, I was surprised. Don’t get me wrong: I adore treadmills and always will. But if you’re looking for something different, or if you perform best with motivation from a personal trainer (whether real or virtual… read on to see what I mean), then Fast Fist could be just right.
Fast Fists is a physically interactive exercise device which, according to the manufacturer, “provides a full body workout on a single fitness machine including cardio, core and strike training rounds.”
This device provides a boxing-style workout that traditionally requires expert instruction and feedback for maximal output and injury prevention. But the Fast Fists bypasses the need for a physical trainer by providing users with an interactive interface that monitors, motivates and customizes a workout while teaching proper technique through associated videos for maximum calorie burning efficiency and core muscle tone. (Of note: More and more cardio training machines are integrating virtual trainers into their consoles. The ones embedded into Fast Fists are among the most motivating I’ve seen.)
The study conducted by the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Southern California recruited fifteen 24- to 54-year-old subjects of varying fitness levels to participate in exercise tests on both a treadmill and the Nexersys Fast Fists system. Researchers measured the participants’ Vo2 levels and heart rates continuously and also noted their caloric expenditure at the end of the workout.
Results were conclusive—and indicated that at peak performance, an individual can burn 252 calories every 10 minutes, or more than 4 times the average treadmill peak rate. What’s more, a full 47% of the test subjects registered 3 to 5 times higher burn rate on their first experience with Nexersys versus a treadmill. Statistical analysis indicates that most first-time users can expect similar results with this machine.
My verdict: Fast Fists by Nexersys is an efficient and effective machine for achieving desired weight loss and muscle fitness goals, with an innovative user interface (and a great way to add fun to your fitness routine). Feel free to stop by Gym Source to experience Fast Fist and other innovative Nexersys fitness products. Our team will be happy to answer your questions and let you experience them for yourself.
