Belly Fat increases Colon Cancer Risk

A new study published in the journal Cancer Prevention Research, shows that abdominal (visceral) fat packed deep between the organs increases intestinal and colon cancer risk. There had been skepticism as to whether obesity itself was a cancer risk – or if the poor habits (unhealthy diet and lack of exercise) were the connection to increased cancer risk. The finding of this study at the Institute for Aging Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine confirmed that visceral adiposity (belly fat) is directly linked to intestinal and colon cancer.
